What’s the Best Way to Get to/from Autumn Lights?
The Autumn Lights Festival is nestled in the Gardens at Lake Merritt in our Lakeside Park which surrounds Lake Merritt. The park entrance is on Bellevue Avenue, off Grand Avenue, the same entrance many know for Children’s Fairyland. Here is a summary of the best options for getting to and from the festival. You will be happier if you don’t bring your car into the park, the traffic will be unavoidably challenging due to the crowds and limited parking. Walk: If you can walk in, please do! See directions below for walking from BART or the Kaiser Garage.

Bike Valet: Back this year, and a super way to get to the festival!
Food and Drinks: Located just outside the gate in a fenced off area, we have great food trucks and picnic tables! There are several bars serving local wines and brews as well as kombucha on draft!
Uber/Lyft/Taxi: Autumn Lights is tailor-made for taking Uber, Lyft or a taxi, especially given the limited parking in and around Lakeside Park and Lake Merritt. We will be providing a special drop off point for Uber, Lyft and taxi cabs at the festival entrance – 666 Bellevue Ave. Do not try to come into the park with your ride if you can avoid it, you will just get caught up in the traffic jam. The festival is a 20 minute walk from 19th street BART, map below.
Public Transportation: Festival-goers are urged to take AC Transit or BART to the 19th Street Station. We will run a single 22-person van shuttle every 20-30 minutes from there to the festival entrance. Transit info: 511.org. It is also a 20 minute walk from there. The van pickup is at the AC transit bus stop on the east side of Broadway between 19-20th. There is a sign.
Festival Shuttle: The City of Oakland will operate a free shuttle between the 19th Street BART station and the festival Thursday, 10/13, Friday, 10/14 and Saturday, 10/15. Riders will be transported to and from the event in a 22-passenger van. The shuttle will make its first pick up at the 19th Street BART station at 5:30 p.m. and run in a continuous loop, arriving approximately every 20 minutes, traffic permitting. The shuttle will make its last stop at the 19th Street BART at 11:30 p.m. If interested in taking the shuttle, be sure to scroll to the bottom of this page for a map of the exact shuttle pick-up location. Parking: There is very limited parking along Bellevue Avenue inside Lakeside Park. The parking fee is $2.00 per vehicle Wednesday, October 12 through Friday, October 14 and $5.00 per vehicle on Saturday, October 15.
The Kaiser Center Parking Garage (closed Saturday) is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but closed Saturday. It is a 12 minute walk to the festival. Parking is $7 4-midnight. The parking building address is 300 Lakeside Drive, Oakland, but the actual parking entrance is off of 20th street near the US Bank sign. It is around behind the Cathedral of the Light.
Disabled Parking: there are very limited designated blue handicapped parking spaces marked near the main event entrance, in front of the Garden Center. Also, the drop off zone may also be used for disabled guest pick/up drop off.
