This phase of The Fence and Gate Project is made possible by a grant from the the Creative Work Fund, a program of the Walter and Elise Haas Fund supported by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and The James Irvine Foundation.  It is a collaboration between wood working artist Jay van Arsdale, Friends of the Japanese Garden (Bill Castellon, president) and Friends of Oakland Parks and Recreation.

Chorisa speciosa at The Lakeside Palmetum

The Chorisa speciosa at The Lakeside Palmetum is just on the edge of coming into full bloom, and here is one of the first photos of its beautiful flowers. Make sure you get by to see this fantastic tree in full bloom in the coming weeks, and if you can’t make it over to the gardens, check back here as we will be updating this post with more photos in the very near future.
